Recognized as a National Historic Site in 1993, Tran Quoc Nghien Temple, Hon Gai, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province is not only a place of spiritual and cultural activities of local people but also the beauty of the temple attracts many tourists.

Tran Quoc Nghien Temple was built around the end of the 13th century to commemorate the merits of Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien, a great worker in fighting the enemy in the Northeast region of the country.

The Festival of Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien Temple is held every year on the March 24th (lunar month – the day of his death). However, since 2008, the Festival of Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien has been restored and is held on the occasion of April 29th and April 30th every year at Tran Quoc Nghien temple, Ha Long city.

                          

The festival is an opportunity for people to recall the glorious historical tradition of the nation, arouse pride in patriotic traditions for future generations through images reproduced in the festival such as: Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien with the generals escorting the price through the streets, the sacred torch procession, ...

Local people and tourists from all over the world also come to the temple to offer incense to commemorate the great merit of Tran Quoc Nghien.

A series of cultural activities are held during the festival to commemorate the national hero, educate the people on patriotism and promote local tourism.

                         

The festival is held annually within the framework of Ha Long Quang Ninh Tourism Week, also aims to contribute to raising public awareness about the preservation and promotion of the historical and cultural values of the mountain national historical relic complex Bai Tho, Long Tien pagoda and Duc Ong temple.
